  • UC Launches Robust Publication Management System in Support of Open Access Policy

    By fall of 2015, all UC Senate faculty will have access to a new publication management system that searches scholarly databases for faculty article records, emails authors when new articles are found, and supports easy deposit of those articles into eScholarship, UC’s open access repository and publishing platform. This “harvesting” system is currently being implemented across the UC campuses in response to the Academic Senate’s call for an efficient mechanism for facilitating faculty participation in the UC Open Access policy.   • ASCE Takedown Notices

    The University of California recently received a takedown notice for 9 articles that had been uploaded by UC authors to eScholarship, UC’s open access repository. All 9 articles were published by the American Society for Civil Engineers (ASCE). None were recent articles covered by the new UC Open Access Policy. They were all uploaded between 2004 and 2008. All of them appeared to be the publisher-formatted PDFs.   • UC Open Access Policy implementation is live!

    The Academic Senate of the University of California adopted an Open Access Policy on July 24, 2013, ensuring that future scholarly articles authored by faculty at all 10 UC campuses will be made available to the public at no charge.   • California Digital Library Joins PKP as Major Development Partner

    On February 7, the California Digital Library (CDL) announced that it is joining the Public Knowledge Project (PKP) as a major development partner in open access scholarly publishing. More information is available here and on the CDL’s eScholarship website.

  • EScholarship Hits 3 Million Download Mark

    The eScholarship Repository hit the milestone of 3 million full-text downloads. It took eighteen months to reach the first million, about nine months to reach the second million, and 166 days to reach the 3 million download mark.
